People and related resources

Follow IDs returned by movie details and related lists to explore the wider catalog. Search endpoints use the standard pagination parameters; the reference lists the complete filters and schemas.

People and filmographies

EndpointPurpose
GET /peopleSearch by name, role, birth-date range, citizenship, movie count, or awards presence.
GET /people/{person}Retrieve a profile, source links, and filmography statistics.
GET /people/{person}/moviesBrowse a filmography, optionally filtered by actor or director role.
GET /people/{person}/extras/awardsRetrieve nominations and wins.
GET /people/{person}/extras/charactersBrowse characters associated with the person.

Use a person's ID or slug. Movie details already include cast and directors, so you can navigate directly from them to a profile. Filmography entries include a role and optional character; the same movie can appear for different roles. has_awards=true includes nominations as well as wins.

Companies

Use GET /companies to search by name or minimum movie count. GET /companies/{company} returns the company profile, and GET /companies/{company}/movies lists associated films. Company paths accept an ID or slug.

The movie's company association is not a complete production-credit list. Treat it as the catalog's linked company.

Awards

Search ceremonies with GET /awards, filtering by name, type, year, or date range. GET /awards/{award} accepts a numeric award ID and returns ceremony details with a paginated data.nominations object.

Filter nominations with category, winner, movie_id, or person_id. winner=true selects wins; winner=false selects nominations without a win. A nomination's person_id may be null when it is not tied to an individual.

Books and adaptations

GET /books supports title search, author, genre, publication year, and ISBN. Send ISBN-10 or ISBN-13 without hyphens. GET /books/{book} accepts an ID or slug and includes a paginated data.adaptations object.

Each adaptation connects to a movie and includes a relation_type and primary flag. Preserve the relationship information when presenting a book alongside a film.

Cars and appearances

Use GET /cars to search by vehicle name, make, model, generation, or year range. GET /cars/{car} returns vehicle details; GET /cars/{car}/movies returns appearances and supports a role filter.

Car paths require numeric IDs. Appearance records contain the movie, role, and an optional image. An appearance ID identifies the relationship; use the nested movie's id to retrieve movie details.

Collections

GET /collections finds lists and categories by title, type, tag, or source. Open a collection with:

Code
GET /collections/{type}/{collection}

Use the returned type (list or category) and its ID or slug together. IDs are not interchangeable across these types. Details contain a paginated data.movies object in collection order. The source filter applies to lists; categories have no source value.
