Overview
Build movie discovery, film guides, and companion experiences with the What's After the Movie API. Explore movies and the people behind them, explain a story, or connect a film to books, awards, cars, and film-music concerts.
One catalog, two movie experiences
What's After the Movie helps audiences explore what comes after watching: related films, cast and directors, stories, and the wider world around a movie. Plot Explained focuses on understanding the film itself, from its plot and ending to its themes and characters.
This API brings resources from their shared catalog into one developer interface, under the What's After the Movie name. You use the same movie identifiers across discovery and explanation endpoints.

How the API fits together
Search returns compact records. A movie detail request adds cast, directors, ratings, source links, and a list of available content sections. Request longer content and related lists separately, so your application fetches what it needs.
All data endpoints use GET, return JSON, and require a Bearer API key. The API reference contains every endpoint, accepted parameter, and response schema, with an interactive request explorer.
Plans and access
Sign in and choose a plan on the pricing page. Your subscription includes an API key and a usage dashboard. Start with Free to try the API. Starter and Pro are paid monthly subscriptions; prices include applicable VAT.
All plans include every endpoint. Monthly allowances are 100 requests on Free, 5,000 on Starter ($9/month), and 25,000 on Pro ($39/month). Successful requests count toward your allowance. There are no automatic overage charges. A separate burst limit of 60 requests per minute per consumer applies.
